What Makes Whiskey Bird One of Atlanta’s Best Brunch Spots

Atlanta is fortunate to have many amazing neighborhood brunch spots all over the city. Whether you are looking for biscuits, chicken and waffles, breakfast burritos, toasts, classic American breakfasts, or something completely different, there is sure to be a restaurant that has the dishes you are looking for. But we all know a great brunch experience is about more than just the food. Location, vibe, drinks, service and of course your friends all play a key part in making that brunch memorable.
A convenient neighborhood location
Chances are your brunch search might start off something like “brunch near me” or “brunch near the beltline”. We all know that location is very important when choosing a brunch spot. With the snarling traffic around Atlanta and ever shrinking supply of parking, convenience is sometimes the most important thing. Fortunately, Whiskey Bird is located outside the craziness of Ponce De Leon and Monroe, but still close enough to be convenient to get to. We are also fortunate to have a surface parking lot across the street and behind the restaurant.
Other times, we are looking for a brunch spot in a cute neighborhood, like Virginia-Highlands, where you can walk around and browse shops or grab coffee before or after you eat. Virginia-Highlands is a great place to spend your morning or afternoon. Our personal favorites are the local bookstore (Virginia Highland Books), Perc Coffee, and Green Flamingo. Being only a short walk from Virginia-Highlands, you can easily turn brunch into an afternoon affair, especially in the spring and fall when Atlanta has great walking weather.
Indoor and outdoor seating for all seasons
With the inconsistency of Atlanta weather it is always nice to be able to choose between indoor and outdoor seating. When the outdoor option includes a covered, quiet patio that overlooks the tree tops, even better. We all have our dining preferences depending on the day and the season so it is always nice to know you have options. At Whiskey Bird, we have two patios (which are also dog-friendly) along with an indoor dining room with Pacific coastal vibes. Both our patios and dining room have murals by Christina Kwan which really heighten the atmosphere and experience.
Classic brunch dishes and bold flavors with a modern twist
After a long week of work it is perfectly normal to be a little indecisive on what you want to eat when it comes to weekend brunch. That is why a great brunch menu should have a good range of choices. At Whiskey Bird we not only offer creative takes on classic brunch items we also have a variety of lunch entrees. Some of our most popular brunch items include:
Hong Kong Chicken and Waffles - a Hong Kong style bubble waffle topped with fried chicken and fresh fruit
Bao Benedict - our take on the classic with a toasted bao bun, two poached eggs, smoked gouda fondue and crunchy potatoes
Hanger Steak Breakfast Burrito - California style breakfast burrito with grilled steak, crunchy potatoes, spicy aioli and guacamole all wrapped in a jumbo flour tortilla
WB Smash Burger - two smashed patties, stacked with cheddar cheese, special sauce, and pickles on a brioche bun. Want more? Add a fried egg, bacon or avocado
Morningside “cobb” Salad - a true brunch/lunch salad with romaine, kale, cabbage, cheddar, tomato, radish, cucumber, red onion, chopped egg, croutons, and warm bacon(less) vinaigrette
Avocado Toast - grilled bread, smashed citrus avocado, tomato, radish, everything bagel seasoning, sunflower seeds and the option to add seared ahi tuna, grilled chicken or a fried egg
Brunch is all about beverages
Coffee, cold brew, orange juice, mimosas, bloody mary, Aperol Spritzes, margaritas, and bubbly are just a few of the most popular brunch beverages. Brunch is one of the few times we often order not one but two or three drinks simultaneously. This is why it is so important for great brunch places to have a great variety of drinks to choose from. At Whiskey Bird, in addition to the classics our guests commonly enjoy:
Perc Hot Coffee
Shaken Iced Coffees
Thai Basil Paloma - tequila, grapefruit, Thai basil, house sour mix
Nola Cold Brew Cocktail - bourbon, hoodoo chicory, cold brew
Midsummer Margarita - mezcal, lime, coconut, lavender agave
Hibiscus Raspberry Limeade - lime, hibiscus, raspberry, sparkling water
We think Whiskey Bird (and Eater and OpenTable agree) is one of the best brunch spots in Atlanta and Virginia-Highlands. So next weekend, be sure to enjoy a great Atlanta brunch at Whiskey Bird.
